Disney and Marvel

WonderCon 2010: Mickey Marvel

This is a reference to Disney buying Marvel in the past 12 months. I think this is a great joke.

WonderCon 2010: Punisher Mouse

The Hulk in tattered lab coat

Wonder Con 2010:

The name tag is a nice touch. You usually don't see the Hulk in a lab coat.

Wonder Con 2010:

Bishop

Comic Con 2006: Bishop

I never really like Bishop as a character. He had a lot of those 90s weaknesses.

Golden Travel Costume

Comic Con 2006: Golden Travel Costume

I like the fact that Star Wars costume design both shows a lot of skin and some very modest costumes. There is a Padme costume for everyone.

Pussy Cat

Comic Con 2009: Pussy Cat

It is hard for me to know if a costume like this is a character or just someone who has a catsuit and comic con is a good place to wear it.

Speeding Along

WonderCon 2010:

I wonder why I am seeing more female Flash Cosplayers lately.

Robin

WonderCon 2010:

Now there has been a female Robin, is this still crossplay? My vote is no.

Robin

Now there has been a female Robin, is this still crossplay

Alt Green Lantern

Wonder Con 2010:

I really like the idea of do your own Green Lantern. Maybe in the future I will see a steampunk Green Lantern.

Pure Poison

Wonder Con 2010: Poison Me

I guess all of Batman's female villains have some level of sexual tension with him. I know why this is, but it also seems limiting. I guess a villain has to be sexy to be good enough to make the book.

Wonder Con 2010: Poison Ivy

Ms. Marvel

WonderCon 2010: Ms. Marvel

A few years ago I never saw anyone cosplay Ms. Marvel. Now she is all over the place. I wonder why she is so big now.

Silk Spectre

Wonder Con 2010:

There were fewer Watchmen costume at Wonder Con than I expected. I might never get to see my old school Nite Owl costume.

B Wing Pilot

Comic Con 09: B-Wing Pilot

I love that Star Wars costumes show up for a few moments in the movies, but people still love them.

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Final Fantasy Cactus

WonderCon 2010: Final Fantasy Cactus

When I saw this costume a bunch of people were freaking out about it. I guess they are big Final Fantasy fans.

Not funny, but the Comedian

WonderCon 2010: The Comedian

I always see the Comedian as the Ty Cobb of superheroes. I like the idea of heroes that no one like.

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Lady Bullseye

WonderCon 2010: Lady Bullseye

I am guessing this is Lady Bullseye, but I have never read her in a comic book.

Monday, April 19, 2010

Hawk Girl ready to attack

WonderCon 2010: Hawk Girl

I really like the mace with this costume. I am not sure why it stands out so well.

Same Character of Different Worlds

Wonder Con 2010: Same Character of Different Worlds

It is rare that you see a character and the character that inspired it. That is kind of cool.

Robot Unicorn

WonderCon 2010:

I am not sure what to think about this costume. It feels like a little much, but that might make it more cool.

WonderCon 2010: Robot Unicorn

A Wing Pilot

WonderCon 2010: A Wing Pilot

I like this costume, but I lever liked flying the A-Wing in the video game. It was too limited.

Snow White

Wonder Con 2010: Snow White

Someone needs to tell Snow White Disneyland is in LA, Not San Francisco.

Cap's Helmet

WonderCon 2010: Cap's Helmet

I love the detail on this helmet. I love the idea of the Captain America helmet.

Corpse Bride

Comic Con 2006: Corpse Bride

She did a great cosplay of this character. She was in character the whole time.

Comic Con 2006: Death Does Us Part

Friday, April 16, 2010

Black Canary

Wonder Con 2010: Black Canary

Black Canary was all over the place this year. She is the It costume of Wonder Con.

Get Over It Ash

Wonder Con 2010: Older Ash

When I first saw this guy he looked kind of worn down and beaten up. I like the idea of Ash Ketchum at 30. Would he be the Al Bundy of Pokemon trainers, living in the past telling people about all the badges he won in the old days?

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Old School Blue Shirt

Wonder Con 2010:

You got to love the old school Star Trek blue shirt. Look at that tricorder. I loved when analog was the future.

Cross Play Link

WonderCon 2010: Link

I think there needs to be a video game where link is female.

Agent Smith

Comic Con 2006: Agent Smith

I think this costume works because this guy already looks like Agent Smith. Sometimes you need to already have the look to make the costume work. He did a great "Mr. Anderson."

Captain Jack Harkness

Wonder Con 2010: Captain Jack Harkness

I know this costume is just the jacket, but it is still cool. Those Dr. Who/Torchwood fans are hard core.

Monday, April 12, 2010

Jean Grey Black Queen

WonderCon 2010: Jean Grey Black Queen

I think her costume is not spot on, but it is close enough that I could figure it out without being told. Yes she is Black Queen Jean Grey from the Hell Fire club. I wonder what Chris Claremont & John Byrne were thinking about when they put her in this costume.

Gwen Cooper

Wonder Con 2010: Gwen Cooper

This is a great costume because if she was not at a comic book convention, you would think this is just how she dresses. She really is dressed like Gwen Cooper from Torchwood

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Akira Hero

Wonder Con 2010: Shotaro Kaneda

The only thing that would make this costume better is if he had the motorcycle to go along with it.

Wonder Con 2010: Shotaro Kaneda's Jacket

Action Figures

Wonder Con 2010: Action Figures

I know everyone says that the Stormtroopers hare lame, but the Rebel Troopers needed the Ewoks help at the battle of Endor. The Rebellion got lucky.

Pocky Box

WonderCon 2010: Pocky Box

I always wonder what inspires people to cosplay a pocky box at a convention. I am not sure where this idea comes from.

Saturday, April 10, 2010

First Time Costume: Army of Two

Wonder Con 2010: Army of Two

This is a great costume. I have never played Army of Two, but that is part of what makes this a great costume. It you pay attention you will know what it is, but it is still obscure.

The Doctor and Doctor's Daughter

Wonder Con 2010:

I love obscure costumes. When the Doctor said, "Make sure you get a photo with me and my daughter" I did not remember the character. I had to look her up on Wikipedia. I think it is hard core when you dress like a character like this.

Spellbinder Redux

WonderCon 2010: Spellbinder Redux

The guy said the Spellbinder costume from Batman Beyond would be just too much work. This costume works well and was easier to put together. I think it would be fitting for the current Batman comic villains.

WonderCon 2010: Spellbinder Mask

Wonder Con Camo

Wonder Con 2010:

I guess I could just say he is a sniper from a video game. He told me he just had a Camouflage suit at home he could wear. I wonder if he is hiding the truth from me.

The 10th Doctor

Wonder Con 2010: The Doctor

I really love the Tenth Doctor. I think a lot of the current love for the Doctor Who reboot is because of the Tenth Doctor.
